HR and Compliance Specialist at Mayfly Agri (Pty) Ltd

• A leading agricultural company is seeking an HR and Compliance Specialist to partner with the business in ensuring full alignment with people, labour, and compliance requirements, including PSA, SCAE, and SCC obligations. The role is responsible for managing the full employee life cycle, upholding HR transactional and transformational practices, supporting organisational design and development, and maintaining statutory, industry, and contractual compliance to enable responsible business decision-making and effective risk management.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a tertiary qualification in Business Legal, Business HR, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist with demonstrated labour compliance expertise
• Strong knowledge and practical application of South African labour legislation (Department of Labour) and relevant corporate/compliance requirements, including experience compiling audit reports for statutory and industry audits
• Proven experience managing the full employee life cycle, organisation design, organisation development, and both transactional and transformational people matters
• Proficient computer literacy (MS Office and HR Systems)
• Must have a valid driver’s license with own reliable vehicle
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans (additional languages advantageous)

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Implementing annual strategic plans allocated to Human Resources and Compliance to achieve organisational strategic objectives.
• Implementing and maintaining all HR transactional processes and compliance requirements to ensure full alignment with Department of Labour, SCAE, SCC, and other regulated obligations.
• Continuously reviewing organisational design, including structure, position profiles, and roles, to maintain competitiveness and alignment with strategic goals.
• Implementing agreed organisational development, talent management, and employee recruitment initiatives to build organisational capacity, effectiveness, and capability to deliver on strategies and customer commitments.
• Ensuring compliance with PSA, SCAE, and SCC legal and contractual requirements, both locally and internationally.
• Managing the full employee life cycle for all South African employees, including appointments, contracting, recordkeeping, and related administration.
• Staying abreast of best practices in people and talent management and integrating change management initiatives to equip employees for organisational growth.
• Coordinating HR and compliance functions across departments and liaising with internal stakeholders, SCAE, SCC, Department of Labour, BEE partners, WSP partners, H&S partners, and all employees.
• Collecting, compiling, and reporting accurate HR and compliance data; preparing reports for audits, management, and external parties; and supporting continuous improvement in people and compliance processes.
• Upholding organisational culture and values; influencing employees towards strategic objectives; addressing conflict, problem-solving, and employee value and contribution matters; and remaining available for statutory audits and special projects as required.
