    HR Business Partner

    The HR Business Partner is responsible for creating and implementing the people strategy for MEA and DACH to enable the execution of financial, operating and strategic business plans and objectives. This role will provide HR excellence at a strategic level to ensure that we attract, retain, engage and develop our talent.
    The HR Business Partner role is even more important at SHL due to our position in the Human Capital Management marketplace. We are market leaders in our field and as such need to drive adoption of our own solutions and best practice both internally and across the wider HR community.

    Strategic Business Partnership and Leadership & Management Support

    • Create and drive the people agenda for the MEA & DACH regions and ensure global alignment with the overall SHL people plan
    • Build trusted, cross cultural relationships and collaborate with employees, Managers and Leaders to drive the delivery of the business and people strategies
    • Embed our core values of strong connections, curiousity, fearless innovation and impact in all of our people practices supporting the cultural transformation of the business and driving improvements in engagement and recognition
    • Partner with the Regional Leadership teams in defining and implementing strategic organizational design/redesign initiatives and other HR interventions that enable or enhance the achievement of business objectives
    • Lead talent planning and management activities, using our own SHL products and solutions where appropriate, to identify and address local country and regional talent issues and critical strategic priorities e.g. attraction, retention and development of top talent and succession planning
    • In collaboration with the local Sales Managers and Managing Directors, drive a high performance sales culture focusing on coaching, continuous improvement and building our sales capability
    • Coach and develop agile and resilient Leaders and Mangers who can manage through continuous change whilst engaging their teams
    • Represent the “voice of the business” to the HR function including the Centres of Excellence & HR Business Partnering teams and vice versa
    • Challenge the status quo and regional variations to understand business issues
    • Implement and drive engagement of global projects and annual processes at a regional and local level
    • Be the “voice of our products” in the external marketplace – advocate the use of our own products and solutions
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues that have been escalated to the highest standards of integrity

    HR Projects

    • Support diversity and inclusion projects in line with EMEA/Global HR KPI’s in particular the BBBEE plan, FASSET (skills development reporting) and Employment Equity in South Africa.
    • In collaboration with the wider HR team, support the design and implementation of change management initiatives
    • Other duties as assigned

    Operational HR Delivery

    • Facilitate employee performance, promotion and development discussions with Management
    • Coach Managers on consistent and appropriate interpretation and application of SHL’s HR policies and procedures in line with local employment law framework and best practice
    • Address employee and Manager process, policy and procedural questions and needs regarding talent issues across the employee lifecycle, triaging requests as needed,
    • Track and manage probation periods, fixed term contracts and visas/work permits ensuring that these are flagged as appropriate and compliance with local employment legislation

    Other

    • Support with activities related to our Trust in South Africa e.g. learnerships, sponsoring Students, attending Trustee meetings

    Experience
    The successful candidate will likely have professional experience and personal attributes that include:

    • Experience of HR strategy creation and execution particularly in emerging and high growth markets such as the Middle East and Africa and ideally Europe
    • Business acumen to translate strategy into practical HR initiatives
    • Pragmatic and solutions orientated approach
    • Strong team player with the ability to work well across reporting lines, with a globally dispersed and matrixed HR team
    • Superior professionalism, discretion, judgment and diplomacy
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
    • Willingness to draw conclusions, decide and initiate action and defend a point of view
    • Ability to operate independently in times of ambiguity and change
    • Effective coaching and facilitation skills
    • Ability to analyse and diagnose the root cause of talent issues
    • Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
    • Proficient in using Workday (HRIS)
    • Fluency in English (business level)
    • Interpretation of data and drive relevant recommendations
