    HRBP (South Africa) - EE

    Job Summary / Purpose of the Job

    • A strategic HR business partner responsible for providing HR leadership, consulting and expertise;   support functional and business unit leaders to implement and drive HR solutions that develop teams and align with business objectives to successfully implement critical people initiatives.
    • Providing HR support to Country Director and team in Kenya and Ethiopia.

    Key Performance Areas and Job Details

    Strategic management

    • Formulate local HR strategy, policies and implementation of key processes covering:
    • Recruitment and selection & induction
    • Employees training, development, mobility & succession planning
    • Remuneration and benefits
    • Employment and labour relations
    • Transformation, internal communication and wellness
    • Performance management
    • Develop implementation strategies and business plans to address short, medium and long-term HR needs of the organization.
    • Provide appropriate HR related information and support to business leaders
    • Ensure sustainability of core organizational competencies  through implementation of innovative HR practices and interventions
    • Companywide committee facilitation, e.g. Pension fund, Employment Equity, Diversity, etc

    Leadership

    • Establish, guide, direct and oversee that departmental objectives are aligned with overall strategy and organizational objectives
    • Identify and timeously address problems and seize opportunities that are central to business success.
    • Lead and inspire the local HR team
    • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements, meet principles of sound corporate governance and internationally accepted environmental, health, safety and quality standards.
    • Actively participate and support change initiatives and organizational improvement plans

    Management of HR operations

    • Ensure effective HR services are provided to the organization
    • Payroll services and general administrative issues.
    • Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
    • Process and submit statutory and benefit remittance on time
    • Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and benefit plan
    • Identify and develop core HR projects in line with organizational business plans
    • Implement organizational development initiatives from the Group (employee engagement survey, culture, values aligned behavior).

    Facilitate effective organizational people management

    • Ensure that job profiles and performance contracts are in place for all staff.
    • Ensure incentive programme in place and applied consistently
    • Ensure clear connectivity between effective performance and rewards
    • Aligned recruitment and selection strategy to the business plan
    • Ensure timeous and accurate succession planning
    • Maintain organizational focus on EE and Diversity
    • Management labour relations, advisory to line management, facilitate internal cases to ensure equitable decisions, change management e.g. restructuring, representation of company at CCMA, ensure HR policies, procedures, codes are in place (disciplinary, grievance codes, wellness)
    • Assess career development needs against organization

    HR department:  people management

    • Ensure that employees are well informed of their job responsibilities and expectations
    • Ensure that new employees are effectively integrated into the organizational culture
    • Ensure that employees are provided with performance contracts with clear deliverables and resources
    • Conduct performance reviews and proactively identify opportunities for individual development
    • Foster a spirit of committed teamwork
    • Do critical job assessment in-line with business plan of the department
    • Assess core development needs against departmental needs
    • Investigate and resolve non-performance issues
    • Ensure clear connectivity between effective performance and rewards

    Risk Management

    • Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that functional and organizational risks are minimized
    • Assess and improve on the existing mitigation controls an create new one where necessary
    • Effectively monitoring and reporting process in order to minimize operational risks.

    Financial management

    • Develop funding proposal in line with the strategic objective of the organization
    • Monitoring project spending against budget. Keep accurate records and highlighting where variances occur
    • Investigate and probe any variances
    • Complete financial reports
    • Assess budgetary requests.

    Relationships management and interface

    • Implement and monitor effective business communication processes
    • Identify critical human resources in core business partners and competitors

    Experience and qualification

    • Honours in Bachelor’s Degree
    • Registration with HR professional bodies will be an added advantage
    • 10 years senior management experience in a Corporate HR environment.
    • Matrix reporting structure
    • Experience working in a Multinational corporation.

    Knowledge / Skill

    • Knowledge of local labour legislation
    • Communication, problem solving, teamwork,
    • adaptability, interpretative skills, presentation skills, facilitation skills

    • Ability to solve problems both at strategic and operational level
    • Ability to inspire confidence within the Leadership Team including the Board.
    • Ability to build strong commercial relationship
    • Ability to establish credibility and respect for people management
    • Ability to demonstrate maturing and professionalism
