    Hybrid Learning Designer

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Working within the HL learning design team, academic staff and other relevant SU staff on the design and development of HL modules/programmes;
    • Assisting with the compilation of resources for the course development process as required;
    • Documenting the course design, development and implementation processes;
    • Working with academics and other project stakeholders to complete projects according to the agreed-upon curriculum design approach and completing tasks within project timelines;
    • Supporting the multimedia production team with media preproduction (e.g. video storyboarding and scripting) and administrative tasks related to postproduction;
    • Providing basic training and support for academics and other stakeholders in preparation for online facilitation.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • A tertiary, three-year qualification, in a field relevant to learning design, for example, education, psychology, social sciences, communications, computer science, or multimedia studies;
    • Experience in the educational use and technical support of learning management systems (e.g. Moodle);
    • Two years' relevant work experience in an adult education and/or higher education context;
    • Experience in the design of synchronous online learning experiences (e.g. webinars);
    • Experience in developing multimedia resources for educational purposes, such as visual icons, infographics or educational podcasts;
    • Basic understanding of learning theory and (online/hybrid) curriculum design;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to craft instructional text;
    • Experience working in a project-based environment that requires adhering to timelines;
    • Evidence of commitment to continual professional development (This will require an openness to receiving and giving fair and critical feedback to collaborators on a regular basis);
    • A high level of attention to detail.


    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    • Evidence of accredited training specifically in the field of learning technologies and online learning design;
    • Online teaching, tutoring and/or facilitation experience;
    • Knowledge of online learning design principles;
    • Relevant project management experience;
    • Evidence of continued development/training regarding technology-enriched learning;
    • A background in accessibility, usability and experience design, information design or communications design;
    • Basic graphic design, photography, videography and/or video editing skills will be beneficial.
