A multinational corporation in northern Johannesburg, a leader in mining and commodities, seeks an IFRS Technical Accountant. This role provides IFRS support to finance teams in the Marketing Business Unit, including drafting technical position papers, maintaining the Marketing iGAAP, and preparing training materials. Job Responsibilities:
As an IFRS Specialist - Accountant, you will play a crucial role in providing IFRS technical accounting support. You will be responsible for drafting technical accounting position papers and developing the Marketing iGAAP. Your expertise will also be utilised in preparing training materials and analysing the impact of new IFRS standards. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Provide IFRS technical accounting support to finance teams across the Marketing Business Unit
Draft technical accounting position papers addressing issues as they arise
Develop and maintain the Marketing iGAAP, which includes practical application guidance and relevant examples for the Marketing Business Unit
Work together with the Group Reporting Team to analyse the impact of new IFRS standards and/or changes to existing standards on the Marketing Business Unit
Update the Marketing iGAAP accordingly with an interpretation of the accounting policy decisions made by Group Reporting
Job Requirements:
CA(SA) designation
At least 1-2 years of post-qualification experience in a technical accounting advisory environment within practice (Big 4 Audit Firm experience advantageous)
Experience in writing technical accounting position papers
Experience in preparing and delivering training would be an advantage
Experience with IFRS 9 Financial Instruments would be an advantage
Industry experience within a commodity trading or mining environment would be an advantage
