    Industrial Relations Specialist

    This role will guide and influence a broad spectrum of contractors / service providers working on Sasol sites to ensure site wide labour harmony and compliance to legislation and policy.

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide expertise, direction and advice on supplier industrial relations
    • Facilitate service provider labour harmony on site to support smooth operations of Sasol plants, shutdowns and projects
    • Facilitate service provider legal compliance in term of relevant legislation and collective agreements
    • Effectively and proactively manage site-wide industrial action, or the potential risk there-of
    • Proactively manage strike actions and / or contingency thereof
    • Effectively and efficiently manage the supplier local verifications and audits
    • Ensure effective support to Sasol Projects
    • Liaise with all internal & external stakeholders - regularly and as /or when required:

    o  Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams at Sasol (permit office / Security, Accommodation, Transport, Project managers, Shutdown coordinators, and other internal stakeholders)

    o  Contractors / Service Providers IR managers,

    • Manage stakeholder relations with Dept of Employment and Labour, MEIBC, other bargaining councils and Dept of Home Affairs
    • Coordinate regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders
    • Proactively monitor and report on internal & external labour trends & issues, including an early warning system of potential industrial action on site
    • Recommend mitigating actions to reduce industrial action risks
    • Maintain site-wide labour harmony
    • Maintain site-wide supplier information / database
    • Ensure alignment with stakeholders pertaining to applications for overtime exemptions
    • Facilitate legal compliance for service providers / suppliers
    • Establish & oversee internal structures to address non-compliance
    • Provide reports as per schedule as well as post-industrial action
    • Hands-on strike management

     

     JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Required entry Qualifications: 

    • 3 year B degree or Btech with Industrial Relations or Labour Law as a focus
    • 3 to 5 years experience in HR/ IR/ Construction/Supplier Environment
    • In-depth knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and Collective agreements
    • Construction, Mega project, or managing Contractor experience (preferred)
    • Valid South African driver's license
