Information Technology Operations Manager at Ignition Group

The detail:

Business Analysis

• Monitor, evaluate, prioritise and recommend the use of Information Systems to meet business objectives and provide guidance on current insurance-specific principles, practices, and regulations.

IT Service Delivery

• Support the Senior Management team in the provision of service and operational excellence through the effective and efficient management and integration of key suppliers and internal teams.
• Liaise with IT suppliers and internal teams to deliver operational excellence that meets agreed service levels and budgets.
• Ensure that all infrastructure and platforms are developed, implemented and operated in a manner that supports appropriate levels of resilience and performance.

System Implementation, Maintenance, and Management

• Conducting research and making recommendations in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity.
• Interface with 3rd party vendors when system upgrades and/or patches are to be deployed.
• Management and integration of technical processes on multiple systems and platforms.
• Support and administer the deployment of solutions that expand or enhance the service and technology portfolios, automate IT operations, reduce costs or increase levels of service.

Risk and Data Management

• Identify and assess technical risks and implement countermeasures.
• Lead the team in the resolution of incidents and problems in collaboration with the Solutions Director.
• Provide technical operational support to the resolution and recovery of normal operations following any system outages.
• Conduct random disaster and problem simulations and identify solutions to mitigate risks.
• Schedule disaster simulation.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure the effective management and analysis of business and client data in the prescribed data warehouse.

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Submit any development requests and ensure that these align with business needs, maximise value whilst minimising incidents and rework; liaison with suppliers and making recommendations where necessary.
• Improve the standard of technical delivery, knowledge, and competencies within IT and across the business relevant to applicable technologies.

Day to Day Operations

• Establish and continually evaluate collections strategies and oversee the development and/or integration of collections systems where new methods and/or processes are introduced.
• Manage, delegate and monitor issues to resolution.
• Monitor system, infrastructure, network, and hardware performance to ensure optimal output.
• Manage billing inquiries.
• Oversee software and system testing using MS SQL and VB.Net.
• Assist with ad-hoc reports, data extraction requests as well as any other projects allocated from time to time.

Team Management

• Conduct regular performance appraisals of the team.
• Provide career development counseling to team including; coaching, identifying KPA’s, career planning and goal setting.
• Assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff for the department.

Are you this person?

• Do you have a tertiary qualification in Information technology/ Computer Science or similar field?
• Have you completed training or qualified in MS SQL?
• Are you training or qualified in VB .Net (Advantageous)?
• Do you have 3 – 5 years’ experience in MSSQL database querying and management?
• Do you have 3 – 5 years’ experience in VB .Net development, including programming knowledge?
• Have you previously worked on Exergy specifically the configuration and maintenance of the system (Advantageous)?
• Do you have experience in the Long-term and Short-term insurance industry (Advantageous)
• Are you experienced in PowerBI and/or Qlikview to extract, analyse and present data required?
• Have you worked on the development of reports based on specific data requirements?
• Do you have strong planning and organising skills?
• Can you manage technical operations simultaneously whilst balancing business priorities and quality?
• Do you have a proven record with excellent written, verbal and with a capacity to present?
• Do you consider yourself to be highly influential and persuasive?
• Can you balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation and a pragmatic approach?
