A. P Maersk South Africa is looking for a Local, Motivated and driven Inland First Mile Agent who will ensure the timely delivery of import and export containers utilizing preferred or line-approved routing while providing the highest level
of customer satisfaction.
He/She will also have to take the initiative to improve inland operation processes and implement methods to drive inter-modal in positioning costs down.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage daily dispatch and logistics execution by ensuring smooth operation / service delivery of client needs by keeping a close track on the service providers and ensuring On Time In Full Delivery (OTIF).
Ensure local supply chain procedures are in line with global SOP
Maintain daily operation communication with internal and external customers, including freight order validation, acceptance and execution.
Review weekly and monthly client schedules and demand forecasts to estimate peak and delivery timings
Manage the performance of the distribution and transport service providers to achieve best in class levels of on time in full delivery while ensuring quality standards are met.
Regular and timely system updates.
Exception Management with decisive corrective progress actions, while proactively managing any changes and contingencies.
Coordinate and collaborate with customer facing agents to quickly respond to planning amendment, equipment breakdowns or other arising issues
Proactively coordinate with vendor management team to ensure we have loading capacity to support loading plans.
Key requirements:
+1 years of experience in logistics and operations management.
Supply chain knowledge is an advantage.
English fluency is a Must.
Stakeholder management, and working under pressure skills.
Ability to operate successfully in a complex environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders across several levels.
