    Intern Producer X5

    Main purpose of the position:

    • To produce and deliver compelling and incisive high quality television news content in line SABC News public mandate objectives

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Source fresh and compelling content suitable for broadcast, in the form of packaged content and/or LIVE studio interviews
    • Write and edit scripts and video clips according to the house style.
    • Check the facts of stories from the various news sources to ensure accurate and factual product.
    • Edit text and copy from field and wire and ensure it is short and crisp
    • Voice reports
    • Copy taste in order to identify stories for use on TV news bulletins
    • Liaise with reporters and search wires for breaking stories, fresh angles and updates on stories
    • Advise the Bulletin Editor/Executive Producer on new and developing story angles.
    • Tailor story to allocated time within the bulletin.
    • Preview tapes to ensure correct sound levels, timing and visuals
    • Correct linguistic and factual errors in the script
    • Attend briefing meetings
    • Ensure that stories are produced to prescribed Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Adhere to the SABC Editorial Policies, BCCSA and Press Codes as well as other relevant regulations.
    • Adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
    • Attend briefing and debriefing sessions with Bulletin Editor and/or Executive Producer.
    • Participate in brainstorming sessions and discuss story ideas, angles and sources with the team, and other contributors.
    • Liaise with senior editorial team members regarding technical support and editorial requirements.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma / Degree NQF 6/7 in Journalism or Media Studies or equivalent qualifications.
    • Proficiency in English: read, write and speak.
    • Proficiency in any other South African language
    • Understand current media trends and developments and also use/engage in multimedia platforms professionally
    • Good general knowledge
    • Computer literacy
    • Ability to interact with and manage different stakeholders
