• A leading academic institution is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor with strong experience in risk management, internal controls, and financial auditing to join their team in Cape Town on a 12-month contract. This is a thrilling opportunity for a professionally skilled Internal Auditor to drive compliance and efficiency across various departments by identifying risks, assessing internal controls, and recommending process improvements. Responsibilities:

• Conducting financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
• Preparing comprehensive audit reports detailing findings and recommendations for management.
• Developing and maintaining audit programs, working papers, and other documentation.
• Following up on audit findings to ensure that management's corrective actions have been implemented.
• Providing guidance and training to staff on internal controls and compliance procedures.
• Assisting in the development of the annual audit plan and risk assessments.
• Collaborating with various departments to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Staying informed on new developments in internal auditing, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A professional qualification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant South Africa) is preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in internal auditing, risk management, or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, corporate governance, and accounting principles (IFRS).
• Proficiency in using audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
