Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
Experienced communications manager to join our Corporate Affairs team to support a variety of communications needs both internally and externally.
As part of the Africa Corporate Affairs, Communications, team, the role will be responsible for executing against our communications strategies and plans.
The successful candidate will use a combination of subject matter expertise in strategic communications both internally and externally as well as project management. Candidates with professional services or financial services experience with a passion for communications are ideal.
The individual will need to liaise with senior stakeholders across the business.
Key Performance Areas:
Brand communications
Develops and project manages an integrated brand communications plan in relation to the firm’s brand strategy:
By protecting the brand by increasing brand eminence and affinity via positively positioning Deloitte amongst internal and external stakeholders.
By managing contracts and agreements with third parties while following the firm’s risk and independence procedure.
Overseeing the activation, performance and measurement of the brand communications plan:
Effective and optimised dissemination of brand communication via internal communication channels to target audiences.
External brand positioning through producing and publishing content on firm's external communication channels.
Providing media relations team with story leads and facilitating first engagement with internal content owner.
Syndicating brand communications via customized content assets disseminated by stakeholder and client relationship owners.
Drafting and overseeing creative design and production of content.
Builds strong working relationships with key internal teams and individuals, creating a conducive environment for collaboration and accountability.
Assist in developing and managing an integrated strategic communications plan, including coordinating and supporting communication schedules and high-profile deliverables for internal and external stakeholders.
Liaise with various business units on strategic communications needs and advise on delivery of consistent messaging, principally in the space of transformation, technology, and talent communications amongst others
Create, design, write, edit, and/or review of key communication deliverables and resources for delivery on a variety of channels including digital, print, email, and multimedia etc.
Provide expertise in ensuring communications are impactful and appropriately represent the voice of the business and our brand
Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of our communication vehicles and tactics to leadership and stakeholders
Internal communications
Acts as a strategic partner to the firm by advising and supporting internal clients with internal communications:
Proactively and strategically engage internal clients to consult them on communications needs
Allocates resources and time to support them in delivering communications that is impactful, relevant, on-brand (identity and messaging) and timeous.
Oversees the governance and optimisation of internal communication channel content and cadence.
Oversees the curation, development and publishing of internal newsletter/s.
Collaborate with a variety of other workstreams, including brand, marketing, change management, deployment and adoption, transformation, talent, and knowledge management teams
Responsible for input into annual budget for drafting of budget for Service Area
Manages expenditure within team and ensures time and expenses are submitted weekly
Team oversight and mentoring
Overseeing a team of communication consultants to deliver the brand and internal communications plan.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree (ideally in communications and/or accountancy field)
Minimum Requirements:
Broad knowledge of communication tools, tactics, and standards
Excellent command of the English language
Strong written and editorial skills
Creative with the ability to think out of box
Advanced interpersonal skills—comfortable working with dynamic and virtual teams and high-level leadership
Experience in developing and writing high profile communications for large-scale initiatives that engages and informs key stakeholder audiences across various communication vehicles (emails, newsletters, video, scripts, presentations, online content, social media etc.)
Strong project management skills including experience coordinating and managing plans/schedules to meet deliverable dates
Strong Microsoft Office skills (primarily Word and PowerPoint)
Up-to-date with latest trends in communication techniques and approaches
Preferred skills/experience:
Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills
Knowledge and understanding of the Deloitte communication standards, language style, and brand would be an asset
Prior experience in “Big 4” Audit businesses
Experience or working knowledge of graphic design and/or multimedia deliverables
