    Internship - Content Classifiers

    Purpose of the Position:

    • To gain knowledge and experience within Programme Acceptance to view, verify, update and rate content within requisite deadlines and regulatory guidelines. The period of the Internship is for a two (2) years, where you will gain valuable knowledge and experience within the Programme Acceptance function.

    Key Performance Areas

    Tasks

    Content Viewing

    • View all content allocated by the Coordinators within deadline
    • Adhere to all regulatory guidelines (BCCSA, ICASA, FPB) and standards.
    • Assist with accurate segmentation and Family track markings and customizations where applicable

    Content Verification

    • Deliver accurate verification of content and accurate data capturing in Synergy of all relevant fields
    • Ensure all milestone tracking is captured on our in-house applications (Synergy and VizOne) within deadline.
    • Update of in-house application (Synergy) with all relevant metadata fields such as genre’s, themes, customizations, association slides etc.

    Reporting

    Provide detailed reports that include:

    • Content information
    • Age Restriction and advisories
    • Africa Customisation
    • Scheduling advice
    • Appropriate broadcast times
    • Genres, Keywords &Themes
    • Family track audio cuts
    • Day time customization
    • Escalate any content queries
    • Perform work according to SOP’s. (Embargo, Express, Daily functions and escalations)
    • Provision of Information and Communication to all Stakeholders
    • Ensure that Programme Acceptance Specialist is updated on any queries and escalations as and when they occur, ensuring that they are escalated to as urgently as the situation requires
    • Liaise with Media Traffic, Media Processing, Channels, PA Specialist and VOD Services to ensure smooth flow of information and communication at all times
    • Actively participate in peer review and BCCSA judgement workshops as setup by the PA Specialist
    • Ensure effective communication from PA Consultants to coordinators on all programmes as viewing is completed and within turnaround deadlines
    • Ensure timeous and accurate response to internal and external stakeholder communications (telephonic and electronic) to support broadcast and catch-up deadlines
    • PA classifier is to ensure that they are reachable via email or telephonically to all relevant stakeholders to assist in the smooth processing of content or ensure that they have arranged for someone to stand in on their content. The alternative arrangement is to be communicated to the PA Team and all relevant workflow stakeholders
    • In all queries, escalations and issues that arise as exceptions which may not clearly be catered for in the standard workflow, the coordinator is expected to exercise reasonable judgement that does not in any way contradict best business practice as stated in all existing policies and SOP’s for Shared Media Operations.

    Qualification

    A Degree in Media Studies or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification or similar

    • 1-2 years’ experience in Content Classification or similar role.
    • Television and Film Broadcasting knowledge and experience
    • Knowledge of the International and Local Film and Broadcast Regulatory Standards
    • Relevant exposure/experience to content and broadcast industry
