Purpose of the Role:
To manager and co-ordinate site Quality Control and to ensure quality analysis is conducted in compliance with Distell Standards and Specification for transformation into information.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
1. Optimise quality management systems and processes:
Align goals and objectives with quality strategy
Manage QAQC environment
Manage equipment reliability relevant to the role
Manage and optimise current lab systems
Develop qc procedures and work instructions
Develop qc training material
Conduct site training as required and relevant
Ensure successful commissioning within the packaging/Intrinsic environment
2. Protect Distell reputation in trade and process integrity:
Ensure compliance to standards and specifications
Ensure integrity of results
Ensure ILEC capability
Analyse data to identify quality risks
Analyse data to identify food safety risks
3. Ensure governance throughout the site:
Manage site taste program
Compliance to integrated DISTELL management systems
Manage supplier quality program
Ensure hygiene support and compliance
Lead quality problem solving and improvement initiatives as applicable
4. Manage health, safety, environment and risk within area of responsibility:
Ensure compliance to health and safety requirements at all times
Manage factors concerning environment, risk and sustainable development.
5. Manage human resources
Effectively manage high performance culture of team
Effectively manage high performance culture of self
Manage the development of relevant staff competencies
Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate
Attract, recruit and retain talent
Manage own performance in a way that shapes a high performance, high engagement culture

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/skills/experience:
Degree or relevant NQF6 qualification with Food Tech/Biotech/An. Chem or related Science qualification
Working knowledge of:
Packaging processes
Trade quality process
Fundamentals of materials (consumables, Ingredients, Indirects, Services)
Cellar processes
Measurement equipment
Quality assurance systems
Supplier relationship management
Lean principles i.e 6 sigma, DMAIC
5 years relevant FMCG working experience
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Proven leadership skills
Project management skills
Strong problem solving ability
Advanced Computer Skills
