    Investment Specialist Retail-Ashburton

    Purpose

    • The purpose of the Investment Specialist Retail is to form part of the intermediated sales function for Ashburton Investments focusing on the client group, independent financial advisors. The Investment Specialist will ensure Ashburton’s value proposition is appropriately positioned within the respective client group and will focus on broadening and strengthening Ashburton’s scope and reach.   The Investment Specialist Retail will be responsible for equipping clients with the necessary information to make informed investment decisions relating to the company, this will include but is not limited to; championing the information shared on Ashburton’s solution, developing, supporting and maintaining relationships and identifying and pursuing new distribution opportunities.  

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or Accounting or Actuarial Science or Risk or Mathematics or Economics or Investment Management
    • A Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (CFP) and/or a CFA or studying towards it will be advantageous
    • An Honours degree would be advantageous
    • A minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Retail Distribution at an asset management or LISP company.
    • Experience in client-facing role (working with financial advisers)
    • An in-depth understanding of the CIS and LISP industries.
    • An in-depth understanding of the investment market (economies, stocks, asset allocation etc)

    Responsibilities

    • Provide recommendations on tailor made investment solutions using research and analysis to align with client specific need
    • Analyse market trends, exchange rates and economic conditions of listed companies on current and future performance
    • Executing on business development plans for prospects and existing clients within the mass affluent market. Identifying additional investment business development opportunities and facilitating the implementation of an investment solution and/or referral to the appropriate partners
    • Providing client-centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework, aligning with Global Sales Principles. Conducting outbound communications and proactive calling to prospects to remain top-of-mind for future business opportunities.
    • Represent Ashburton Investments to independent financial advisors
    • Keep abreast of the regulatory framework as it relates to investments
    • Participate in public forums, fund conferences, investor road shows and other marketing initiatives
    • Create opportunities for thought leadership pieces and manage the distribution of periodic marketing collateral
    • Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with relevant peers and stakeholders to achieve productivity synergies
    • Participate in specialist communities of practice and contribute positively to own and organisational knowledge improvement
