IT Specialist: Cloud Solutions Architect at BMW Group South Africa

The incumbent will be responsible to create and oversee a well-informed cloud strategy, identifying current trends and analyse how they can be incorporated into the cloud strategy.

• Constantly evaluate, organise and develop cloud solutions.
• Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
• Propose and review solutions with application teams.
• Develop systems solutions in line with quality and delivery requirements.
• Determine feasibility of application migration into the cloud and identify possible changes.
• Configure and develop CICD Pipelines for application teams
• Solid knowledge of service integrations and cross functional software, operating systems and infrastructure design.
• Knowledgeable on how specific infrastructures and application software are deployed in line with relevant methodologies and frameworks
• Ability to develop and leverage their knowledge of reference architectures
• Ability to maintain knowledge of trends and development in technology domains.
• Knowledge of BMW processes and landscapes will be beneficial especially 4 wheels setups and configuration.
• Proven ability to develop and implement micro-services architectures.
• Proven ability to develop Java, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular, NodeJS, CICD Pipelines.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in setup and configuration of Kafka Services required.
• Knowledge and experience using Terraform scripts is required.
• Knowledge on how DNS servers work and how to create / add and remove records
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate effectively.
• Willing and able to deal with customers. In most cases they will be foreign customers and language barriers might exist.
• Able to deal with differing opinions and conflict resolution.
• Ability to convert and convey technical topics to non-technical understanding.
• Must have good time management skills.
• Ability to work as part of an agile team, inter dependant as well as independently and submit deliverables on time and in excellent quality.
• Must take ownership of an assigned task and see it through to completion.
• Must be self-motivated and open to learn and self-starter.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or relevant field.
• Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
• 3+ years of experience designing, executing, and supporting IT cloud solutions.
• 3+ years of experience working with international projects and interacting with international clients.
• 3+ years developing serverless architectures (ECS, Lambda, Elastic Load Balancing, CloudFront, S3 would be beneficial)
• 3+ years working with micro-service architectures and application development. (Quarkus, Springboot, WebElements would be beneficial)
• 5+ years working with Jenkins, Bitbucket, Git.
• 3+ years leading a strong and experienced technical team.
• 5+ years working with Databases (Relational, In-Memory, Key-Value)
• 5+ Years working with REST and SOAP interfaces
• 5+ Years working with SAP and Java.
• 5+ years of developing, maintaining enterprise solutions
• Strong experience and know-how in Cloud Security Vulnerability mitigation and remediation.
