Java Developer at Accenture

As a Java Developer at Accenture you will work with our clients and delivery teams to drive rapid-paced innovation through implementing Java technologies. Our clients range from digital natives, to traditional organisations looking to launch new products and break away from siloed IT operations. You will provide tailored technical recommendations and guidance to solve their unique business challenges. You will design, architect and manage teams to deliver solutions.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

You are a highly motivated, self-directed technologist with experience delivering digital platforms. In order to be successful in this role the following responsibilities will be required:

• Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to potentially complex problems
• Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals
• Uses considerable judgment to determine solution and seeks guidance on complex problems
• Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor. May interact with peers and/or management levels at a client and/or within Accenture
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance
• Decisions often impact the team in which they reside
• Manages small teams and/or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) at a client or within Accenture

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (preferable)
• Oracle Java Certification (e.g. SCJP / OCJP etc.) is an advantage
• More than 2 years’ experience
• Experience in Java Technology Platform
• Ability to meet travel requirements, when applicable
• Financial or Insurance industry experience (advantageous)

Technical Competencies Required:

Must have at minimum the following experience:

• Java 7 programming
• JUnit / Mockito
• Hibernate/JPA
• An understanding of Web and integration technologies (HTML, XML, JSON, Web Services)
• Experience working with Source Code Management tools such as Git or SVN
• An understanding of build/dependency management tools such as Ant or Maven

An understanding of and experience with the following technologies will improve your chances of being hired at a more senior level:

Languages:

• Java 8, Java EE, other programming languages
• Platforms & Frameworks
• Spring (MVC / Boot / Data)
• Mocking Frameworks such Mockito, JMockit
• Messaging (JMS, Queues, Kafka)

• JPQL, HQL
• NoSQL (Hadoop, CouchDb)
• Experience with specific implementations, such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and so on
• Containers and associated tech, such as Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift
• SOAP and RESTful services and associated tech, such as Feign and Swagger
• CI tools and associated tech such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Hudson and SonarCube
• Experience with SDLC patterns such as Agile and SCRUM
