The requirements for this position are:
A suitable professional qualification and appropriate educational experience as a teacher librarian
The ability to catalogue and classify all types of media
Experience in creating a vibrant and dynamic space to enhance interest in reading
The ability to promote the love of reading for research and pleasure through masterful storytelling, and innovative approaches to media literacy
A sound and progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in education
A passion for teaching and an understanding of the developmental needs of children in a co-educational environment
The ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders
An ability to be flexible, innovative and embrace change with alacrity
Computer literacy and experience in integrating IT into learning and teaching
A fundamentally future-orientated approach to teaching and learning
A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
An awareness of the nature of our school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
Ability to embrace diversity and transformation in all aspects of school life
