Junior Geochemist at Digby Wells Environmental

Requirements

• Conduct field sampling of soil, waste rock, tailings, groundwater, surface water, and sediments following standard environmental protocols.
• Assist in data analysis and interpretation to evaluate Mine Drainage and Metal Leaching.
• Perform laboratory data interpretation and quality control to ensure accuracy in geochemical assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hydrogeologists and environmental scientists.
• Prepare technical reports, including data summaries, figures, and interpretations of geochemical trends.
• Proficiency in relevant environmental legislations.
• Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and environmental standards during field operations.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency in French or Spanish would be advantageous.
• Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Aptitude for independently learning and interpreting new software packages, if required.
• Strong analytical skills and sound administration skills.
• Possession of a valid passport and driver's license.
• A willingness to travel within Africa and potentially other locations, as required. 

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in geochemistry, geology, chemistry,chemical engineering, or a related field.
• An Honours/Master’s degree in geochemistry, geology, or chemistry is preferred. 
• Ability and willingness to achieve professional registration or industry certification.

Work Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in a geochemistry/hydro-geochemistry role, preferably within the mining industry.
• Familiarity with using geochemical software packages, with preference given to experience with Geochemist's Workbench or Phreeqc.
