Our client is seeking an experienced Junior Litigation Attorney to join their firm on the Southern Coast of the Western Cape.
They require a detail-oriented and results-driven team player. As a Litigation Lawyer, you should be adept at communicating with people of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds, as the successful candidate will typically be conversing with witnesses, experts, judges, law enforcement officers, and other lawyers.
What you'll be doing:
Conduct initial case investigation and assessment by locating and taking preliminary statements from witnesses, reviewing documents, client interviews, and investigations.
Conducting discovery, including issuing subpoenas, conducting interviews, and reviewing documents.
Drafting and filing with the court various pleadings and motions.
Negotiating with opposing counsel to reach settlement agreements.
Case management conference.
Communicating with clients throughout the litigation process to keep them informed about the status of their cases and any new developments.
Preparing witnesses for court appearances.
Attend Pre-Trail review meetings.
Presenting cases in court by arguing facts and citing laws to support the client’s position.
Requirements:
Matric with a relevant LLB qualification.
Minimum of 3 years post-admission experience as an attorney.
Valid driver’s license – company car provided during office hours.
Excellent communication skills.
High level of interpersonal skills.
Superior knowledge and understanding of the rules of evidence.
