    Junior Quantity Surveyor

    FULL-time Junior position working remotely                                                     


    Reports To: ABiQ Manager


    Key Purpose 

    • The Junior Quantity surveyor's role is in an advisory and research support capacity pertaining to resource and cost in construction projects across multiple sectors. 

     Key Accountabilities 

    • Monitor all information in relation to projects including labour, material and subcontractor cost forecasting.

    Duties include: 

    • price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project 
    • track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly 
    • liaise with the construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers, contractors and subcontractors 
    • Advice on stages of projects within budget and expenditure. 
    • Monitor, keep track of project progress and measure variations in the projects 

    Work as part of a team to ensure queries of Subscribers are answered.  

    Able to work well within a remote team-based environment.

    Communicate regularly with the Team  

    Assist the business with a range of other duties as may be required from time to time. 


    Qualifications and Experience 

     Education 

    • 3-year University of Technology diploma or B.Sc (QS) university degree 
       

    Experience 

    • Research experience is beneficial 
    • Knowledge in Africa and/or Emerging Markets desirable  
       

    Knowledge, Skills and Competencies 

    • Commercially astute, numerate, risk-averse and able to accurately forecast cost and sales.  
    • Multi-tasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.  
    • Have good practical organization skills and planning of resources and programme scheduling.  
    • IT Literate able to use Microsoft Office 
    • Salesforce is desirable. 
    • Good command of written and spoken English.  
    • Client/subscriber focused.  
    • Numeracy 
    • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills 
    • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work. 

     

     Salary (U.S Dollar)

    • The probation period starts from $620
    • Post probation $1240
    • Flexi hours, with mandatory team meetings
