Junior Systems Engineer - Stormill, Johannesburg at Automation Control Solutions (ACS)

Description    

• Automation Control Solutions (ACS) is a market leader in Southern Africa in the field of Process Control Instrumentation. ACS provides world-renowned products, specialised training, after sales service and technical support. We represent Emerson Automation Solutions, in Southern and Eastern Africa.
• This role is initially a contract placement for 12 months with a possibility of permanent placement dependant on personal performance and business requirements.

Minimum Requirements    
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum requirement is one or more of the following in the field of Engineering:

• Industrial

Chemical

• A minimum requirement is one or more of the qualifications below:
• Master of Engineering (M.Eng) (NQF9)
• Bachelor / Baccalaureus of Engineering (B.Eng) (NQF8)
• Master of Science BSC. Master of Engineering (NQF9)
• Bachelor of Science BSC. Honours in Engineering (NQF8)
• Bachelor of Science BSC. Engineering, (NQF8)
• Baccalaureus Technologiae Degrees Engineering (B-Tech) (NQF7) (will be considered)

EXPERIENCE:

• Any experience from the below list is desirable
• Good understanding working with Microsoft Windows 10 Experience and MS Server 2016/19 advantage. E.g., Formatting and installing operating systems
• Computer hardware and BIOS setup
• Building or setup of PCs
• Basic Software configuration skills of any Product: e.g.: V-Basic, Python, MATLAB, C++
• DCS and or PLC and SCADA Configuration Experience
• DeltaV DCS experience would be an advantage
• Basic Understanding of Project Execution according to Industrial / Systematic procedures
• Office: Word, Excel
• Report writing skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Gain basic knowledge relating to engineering within a Process Control environment
• Gain basic knowledge in control system project execution knowledge:
• Configuration,
• Testing
• Installation
• Commissioning
• Support
• Provide configuration support for Engineers

Gain knowledge: 

• about User Requirement Specification: P&ID’s, logic diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, sequence diagrams, control narratives, Cable Block diagrams and configure the DCS according to specifications
• of serial interfaces such as Modbus, DeviceNet and Profibus
• of Industrial Ethernet interfaces such as Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet
• in configuring graphical interfaces
• in configuration of Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function chart and Structures Text
• in hardware and software fault finding from system to instrument
• Competent in control system Server/ Workstation and software version upgrading and migration
• Competent in Windows 10 and Server 2016/9 installation
• Ensure compliance with ACS and Customer safety practices at all times
• Competent in working with MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will gain competency in the configuration of Control Systems software. Gain knowledge about the DeltaV DCS hardware and DCS Cabinet Design principles. Complete Emerson Training in desired timespan. Execute Software configuration and system setup support.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Complete Emerson DeltaV Field Service training within 2-3 months
• Study the Emerson DCS Hardware and Software capabilities and best practicesL
• Learn DeltaV Software configuration methods and principles
• Have good understanding of DCS Software layers and components and have good understanding of how a system would control a plant
• Configure Graphics according to requirements
• Configure basic to medium complexity Software objects
• Work in conjunction with Engineers, project manager/s ensuring project execution within time and Budget
• Strict adherence to ACS policies and procedures
• Fair Understanding of various Control System Cabinet designs according to Emerson standards
