Lab Assistant - Main lab (Ngodwana) at Sappi

We’re on the lookout for a Lab Assistant to take samples throughout the Mill every hour.

As a Lab Assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Taking samples accurately from various plants on an hourly basis.
• Preparing in-process and final pulp samples for analytical testing.
• Using Laboratory instrumentation for carrying out duties.
• Analyzing samples to generate credible data and reporting results using the Laboratory Information System software program.
• Using tests methods complying with all ISO requirements.
• Analyzing final product to declare production in terms of oven dry tons.
• Analyzing and reporting of special samples requested by the plant.
• Communicating with production personnel with regards to safety problems in the plant.
• Accountable for the correct use of PPE, housekeeping and general safety applicable to sampling and tests performed.
• Identification; communication and mitigation of risks.

What are we looking for? 

• Matric with Maths and Physical Science/ N3 Pulp and Paper.
• Chemistry/ Lab related qualification will be advantageous.
• 1 year of Laboratory/Pulp and Paper industry experience will be an advantage.
