• Are you passionate about quality control and laboratory management? RCL Foods is looking for a dynamic Laboratory Manager to lead our Groceries division in Randfontein!
• As the Laboratory Manager, you will oversee daily laboratory operations, maintain ISO 17025 accreditation, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. You will manage a team of lab professionals, coordinate with various stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements    

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
• 7+ years of lab experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025 standards.

Duties & Responsibilities    
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily lab operations and ensure ISO 17025 compliance.
• Provide technical guidance on analysis, including method development and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate sample submissions to external labs and ensure timely receipt of results.
• Interpret results, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Liaise with internal and external customers, including food manufacturers and regulatory agencies.
• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
• Manage laboratory team and activities within agreed budget and hours.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
• Present lab procedures and results during internal and external audits.
• Participate in production problem-solving activities.

Quality, Health, and Safety Assurance:

• Maintain and improve SANAS accreditation status.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Approve additions and amendments to the Laboratory Quality Manual.
• Identify opportunities for procedural and quality improvement.

Information and Data Management:

• Ensure timely communication and capture of results for clients.
• Conduct trend analyses and compile weekly and monthly reports.
• Resolve client complaints and establish a process for collecting feedback.

Financial Management:

• Draw up the annual budget and ensure the lab operates within it.
• Conduct costings for new and existing tests.
• Initiate cost-cutting initiatives and identify CAPEX requirements.

Supply Chain Management:

• Provide input into supply contracts and select suppliers.
• Maintain stock records and ensure regular stocktakes.
• Keep abreast of the latest technology and obtain quotes for fixed assets.

Maintenance Management:

• Ensure regular testing and maintenance of equipment.
• Adhere to an equipment maintenance schedule.

Staff Management and Development:

• Administer HR processes, including employee leave and appraisals.
• Manage delivery against talent management action plans.
• Develop and drive training strategies and career paths for subordinates.
