The Lamination Specialist provides direction and management for the Lamination and Slitting employees. Co-ordinates planning activities for the department and controls production performance as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities, staff capabilities and projected business. Incumbent ensures compliance to established customer quality and production standards. Actively leads and participates in plant safety, housekeeping, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department. The incumbent exercises a high level of independent judgment and autonomy within the scope of his/her role. They understand and align business operations and production management as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a safe working environment
Lead and direct Lamination and Slitting Processing departments, including facilitation of meetings
Overall lamination and slitting production management of machinery.
Management of various plant wide programs
Direct Reports include Supervisors
Facilitates improvement issues within the operations supervisory team
Coordination of various department & plant wide roll outs
Identify capital improvement projects for the department
Monitors and consistently works toward process improvement and high-quality results
Culture & communications support & improvement
Labour relations support & improvement (Disciplinaries)
Employee development
Enforcement of all company policies and procedures
Participate in and or lead Continuous Improvement events
Other duties as assigned
Qualification and Experience:
Matric/Grade 12
Management Degree or Diploma in Production Management (preferably).
Technical Competency Qualification in Lamination
Minimum 5 years in Lamination.
Work experience in the Lamination and Slitting environment will be an advantage
