Manage complex regulatory investigations, regulatory litigation and other matters across EMEA, with a primary focus on MEA
Guide and execute regulatory and litigation strategy in relation to high-profile, precedent setting matters with the potential for reaching the highest appellate courts across EMEA with a primary focus on MEA
Advise internal legal, policy, communications, product, operations and business teams on regulatory risks and compliance with regulatory decisions relating to a wide variety of data protection matters
Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory risks and resolving regulatory disputes
Draft responses on factually and legally complex issues to regulators working collaboratively with internal legal, product, operations and business teams
Supervise and direct outside counsel on multiple complex contentious regulatory matters
Work closely with outside counsel to produce written submissions to regulators and courts of the highest quality
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in legal drafting, advocacy and communication skills
Qualified lawyer in at least one jurisdiction in EMEA with 5+ years post qualified experience in a law firm or in-house, including extensive experience of regulatory matters or managing contentious matters before higher and/or appellate courts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions
Demonstrative ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines
Prior experience of litigating data protection issues preferred although candidates should be flexible and willing to work on projects in a wide variety of areas
Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Strategic awareness, business judgment and client counseling experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of data protection regulatory matters or regulatory litigation generally in MEA is desirable
Experience of working with mobile, application development, social networking, online advertising, machine learning, or other internet technologies
Strong interest in privacy issues, technology and innovation
