    Learning and Development Business Analyst

    Job Advert Summary    

    The Learning and Development Business Analyst's role involves managing the enhancement and implementation of the knowledge ecosystem across the organization. This includes ensuring that business needs are met and tasks are prioritised effectively. The Analyst will be responsible for envisioning, planning, designing, and coordinating systems and processes that deliver strategic business value. Additionally, they will oversee the timely delivery of learning systems projects, working in a fast-paced environment where learning, knowledge sharing, and attention to detail are highly valued.      

    Specific responsibilities of the Learning and Development Business Analyst include envisioning, planning, designing, and coordinating the enhancement and implementation of the knowledge ecosystem, the Learning Management System (LMS), Content and Knowledge Management, Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), and integrations with Group shared services systems such as the ERP and ICT systems. The position requires a deep understanding of business challenges in the areas of learning and knowledge sharing. The Analyst will collaborate with department and other business stakeholders to develop solutions while managing task prioritisation to ensure project delivery within scope and schedule.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Relevant Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and/or Education emphasis, Engineering or
    • Relevant experience in related field
    • 1 - 3 years professional experience in a related role, e.g. business analysis experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in non-technical terms
    • Strong communication skills, dealing with all levels of management and peers within an organisation (HR, ICT,Finance, Marketing etc)
    • Attention to detail
    • Experience in delivering / implementing products that meet users’ needs in a relevant domain
    • Experience in Learning Applications / Technologies and related management systems advantageous (LMS, LXP,Content Management - SharePoint Online) would be advantageous
    • Experience of working with software support / development teams would be advantageous
    • Experience in Project Management with a focus on Agile would be advantageous
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to troubleshoot and collaborate in order to resolve technical issues and gain new technical skills quickly
    • Experience in the asset management industry would be advantageous
    • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) expertise required

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Scope and document business, systems requirements
    • Gathering of detailed business requirements and documentation thereof
    • Facilitate and participate in solution design processes
    • Propose design solutions that are well thought through and aligned to future needs and customer requirements
    • Assist in the facilitate and participate in high level estimation sessions
    • Alignment with business ICT architecture and systems
    • Coordinate the scope and supply of learning reports for utilization and data for enterprise needs

    Research and development of learning systems

    • Coordinates the product development and enhancement roadmap
    • Conduct ongoing needs analysis and assists in the identify opportunities for process improvements supported by prioritised plans for implementation
    • Research applicable learning systems and technology functionality for which a need has been identified
    • This includes cost comparison (if applicable); negative and positive impact of implementing functionality; and setting up demonstrations for targeted staff
    • Recognizes opportunities to link learning applications to ensure consistency in the access of learning for users, while utilizing various applications
    • Identifies and communicates opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements
    • Attending and participate in vendor announcement meetings and related forums / webinars and conferences

    Project management of systems and process implementations

    • Prioritise, plan and coordinate the implementation of systems and processes to ensure projects are delivered within scope and time
    • Coordinates the redesign of learning applications and user interfaces as needed including; setting up demonstrations to targeted users to gather feedback; and communicating final changes to impacted users
    • Establish a change management process to assess the change impact during project planning and develop a plan to manage the change
    • Apply project management principles (Agile) to manage projects

    System Management, standard and policy formulation

    • Configures systems to meet business needs. Ensures configuration updates conform to end user requirements.
    • Coordinate system support, maintenance, contractors and related SLA’s
    • Assists in the support of help desk calls and escalating issues unable to be resolved by the department to the learning applications vendor or service providers for investigation
    • Responsible for the implementation and managing of a systems change management process
    • Manages security roles and user set up in the learning applications
    • Responsible for creating policies, procedures and standards for the use and maintenance of the learning systems (POPIA and GDPR allignment essentials)
    • Partner with ICT department in order to maintain the security of systems including following security protocols, updating documentation and system backups
    • Coordinates with the ICT department to remain up to date on hardware/software standards as well as currently supported hardware, uses this knowledge to ensure that changes will not negatively impact learning applications
    • Manages learning application patches and upgrades including: determining impact of changes; and communicating changes to impacted users
    • Manager / oversee / coordinate the quality management system to maintain active standards

    Provide access (internal and external) to the learning systems

    • Works collaboratively with systems development specialists to provide a cohesive and continuous learner experience
    • Provide easy search functionality for users to find and consume required knowledge components
    • Provide easy-to-use guidelines and training for new users using the systems
    • Provide remote access to the various learning systems
