    Learning Consultant

    Role Purpose    

    • The role is responsible for the effective operational delivery of learning and development activities, with a particular focus on Skills Development, WSP and ATR requirements, digital learning enablement, learning administration and reporting.
    • The successful incumbent will understand that learning is no longer a once-off intervention but a critical enabler of sales performance, customer experience, productivity and business growth.
    • The role requires a commercially minded, digitally savvy and technologically curious learning professional who can operate at pace, simplify complex information, use data effectively and continuously identify opportunities to improve the learning experience and capability of the MDS sales force.

    Requirements    

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Industrial Psychology, Education, Business Management or a related discipline essential.
    • Certification or training in Skills Development, SETA administration, BBB-EE, Learning and Development, Digital Learning, Instructional Design or Adult Learning would be advantageous.

    Experience

    • 3–5 years’ experience in Learning and Development or Learning Consulting, with solid operational experience across the end-to-end L&D function essential.
    • Proven experience managing WSP and ATR processes, with practical knowledge of INSETA, Skills Development legislation and BBB-EE Skills Development requirements.
    • Experience in digital learning enablement, including LMS platforms, e-learning and technology-enabled learning solutions essential.
    • Experience supporting talent and succession development would be advantageous.
    • Experience in a sales, financial services or insurance environment would be advantageous.
    • Experience with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate or equivalent would be advantageous.
    • Exposure to AI and emerging technologies and their application within Learning and Development would be advantageous.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    KEY OUTPUTS

    Learning Administration and Coordination

    • Coordinate the end-to-end administration of learning and development programmes and interventions.
    • Coordinate learning logistics, learner communications, registrations, attendance, completion and post-learning activities.
    • Maintain accurate learning records, databases, trackers and supporting documentation.
    • Coordinate learning calendars and ensure learning activities are scheduled and communicated timeously.
    • Liaise with learners, facilitators, learning providers and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of learning interventions.
    • Coordinate external learning providers and monitor the delivery of agreed learning programmes.
    • Assist with the sourcing, coordination and administration of learning content and resources.
    • Maintain and update learning documentation, processes, templates and standard operating procedures.
    • Support the administration of the MDS Specialised Knowledge Programme.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of learning administration and processes.

    Skills Development, WSP, ATR and INSETA

    • Coordinate and administer the annual Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) process.
    • Coordinate and administer the Annual Training Report (ATR) process.
    • Collect, consolidate, validate and maintain accurate learning and training information required for WSP and ATR submissions.
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to obtain information and supporting documentation required for Skills Development reporting.
    • Maintain accurate evidence and records to support WSP, ATR, Skills Development and audit requirements.
    • Track and ensure learning activities are correctly recorded and aligned with applicable INSETA requirements.
    • Maintain working knowledge of Skills Development legislation and relevant SETA requirements.
    • Track and administer the organisation's BBB-EE Skills Development reporting and evidence requirements.
    • Monitor learning activities against agreed Skills Development plans and identify outstanding information or gaps.
    • Prepare and maintain reports, trackers and supporting documentation for Skills Development and BBB-EE requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits by ensuring learning records and supporting evidence are complete and readily available.
    • Keep abreast of changes to INSETA, Skills Development and BBB-EE requirements that may impact learning administration and reporting.

    Learning Solutions and Digital Learning

    • Coordinate the implementation of learning solutions aligned to identified learning requirements.
    • Support the development and deployment of digital, blended and traditional learning interventions.
    • Coordinate e-learning programmes, virtual learning and digital learning activities.
    • Maintain and update e-learning content, digital learning resources and learning materials as required.
    • Support the administration and effective use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning platforms.
    • Upload and maintain learning content, assessments, learning paths and learner information on relevant platforms.
    • Coordinate pre- and post-learning assessments and knowledge checks.
    • Support the development and administration of microlearning and digital knowledge-sharing interventions.
    • Assist with the use of digital tools and emerging technologies to improve learning accessibility and administration.
    • Monitor digital learning participation, completion and learner engagement.
    • Liaise with learning content providers to obtain, update and maintain relevant learning content.
    • Stay informed about developments in digital learning, learning technology and AI applications relevant to L&D.

    Learning Reporting and Analytics

    • Compile and maintain monthly learning reports, scorecards and dashboards.
    • Maintain accurate learning data and reporting information.
    • Track learning participation, attendance, completion and assessment results.
    • Monitor learning spend and maintain relevant financial trackers.
    • Capture and reconcile learning information across relevant systems and databases.
    • Use Excel to analyse learning data and identify trends, gaps and outstanding actions.
    • Prepare information required for management reporting and learning reviews.
    • Ensure reporting information is accurate, complete and submitted within agreed deadlines.
    • Support the measurement of learning effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments and other relevant measures.
    • Maintain appropriate audit trails for learning activities and expenditure.

    Learning Operations and Financial Administration

    • Coordinate learning programme administration and associated operational activities.
    • Manage learning provider administration, including quotations, purchase orders, invoices and supporting documentation.
    • Prepare and check invoices and arrange payment in accordance with organisational processes.
    • Administer learning licences, subscriptions and renewals.
    • Maintain records of learning costs and expenditure.
    • Support budget tracking and provide accurate information on learning expenditure.
    • Ensure learning administration is completed in line with organisational policies, procedures and governance requirements.
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary administration or costs

    Learning Consulting Support

    • Provide practical learning and administrative guidance to stakeholders on learning processes and requirements.
    • Assist stakeholders with learning requests, registrations, programme information and learning administration queries.
    • Provide advice on appropriate learning processes, systems and available learning solutions.
    • Assist with the coordination of learning needs information and translate identified requirements into appropriate learning activities.
    • Support the effective communication and implementation of learning initiatives.
    • Build productive working relationships with Human Capital colleagues, learning providers, facilitators and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain a professional, responsive and service-oriented approach to all learning-related queries and requests.

    Risk, Compliance and Continuous Improvement

    • Ensure learning records and processes comply with organisational policies, legislation and governance requirements.
    • Identify and escalate learning-related risks, gaps or non-compliance.
    • Ensure appropriate documentation and evidence is maintained for learning activities.
    • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of learner and organisational information.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and improve learning processes.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Learning and Development function.
    • Keep abreast of relevant developments in Learning and Development, Skills Development, INSETA and digital learning.

    Competencies    

    TECHNICAL AND DIGITAL COMPETENCIES

    • Microsoft Excel: Strong proficiency in analysing learning data, maintaining trackers, producing reports and identifying trends and insights.
    • Microsoft PowerPoint: Strong proficiency in developing clear, engaging and professional learning and stakeholder presentations.
    • Digital Learning & Technology: Practical experience with LMS platforms, e-learning, digital content and technology-enabled learning solutions, with the agility to adopt new technologies and explore the application of AI to Learning and Development.
    • Learning Analytics: Ability to use learning data to monitor participation, identify capability gaps and evaluate learning effectiveness.
