    Lecturer: Afrikaans Home Language, Dept. of Senior Phase and Further Education & Training, Faculty of Education (Wellington Campus)

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • A relevant Master’s degree to the teaching of Afrikaans Home Language
    • A Bachelor’s degree with Afrikaans as a major
    • A relevant teaching qualification
    • At least two (2) years relevant teaching the subject at the tertiary level or five (5) years’ experience in teaching Afrikaans at secondary level (grade 8 – 12)
    • Knowledge, understanding and experience in preparing and evaluating meaningful teaching experiences for Senior and FET phase students.
    • Knowledge of how to write in academic language and how to do research is of utter importance.
    • Fluency in Afrikaans and English – BEd tuition on the Wellington Campus is in Afrikaans.

    Recommendation:

    • Relevant research output

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    • Teaching Afrikaans Home Language to BEd students from first year to final year in the SPFET department.
    • Curriculum development and other learning materials.
    • Supervising students on teaching practice.
    • Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
    • Academic administration and development.
    • Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge.
    • Assessment and quality assurance.
    • Networking with schools and other networks.
    • Community engagement.
    • Coaching and mentoring students.
    • Meticulous planning and organising skills.
    • Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning).
    • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
