    Litigant – General Litigation Department

    Job Overview:

    • Our client is looking for an experienced and confident Litigant to join their General Litigation Department.
    • The successful candidate will represent members in labour-related matters, including disciplinary hearings, conciliations, retrenchment consultations, the CCMA and bargaining councils. The role will also involve providing legal advice, negotiating with employers, conducting legal research and managing relevant correspondence and documentation.

    Minimum requirements: 

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Labour Law or Labour Relations.
    • 3+ years' relevant experience.
    • LLB or BProc degree will be advantageous.
    • Sound knowledge of labour legislation.
    • Practical knowledge and understanding of the CCMA and bargaining councils.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Afrikaans and English
    • Strong negotiation, correspondence and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
    • Own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence.
    • Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home.

    Duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

    • Represent members during disciplinary hearings.
    • Represent members at the CCMA and relevant bargaining councils.
    • Attend conciliations and retrenchment consultations.
    • Negotiate with employers on behalf of members.
    • Provide legal advice to members.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare relevant legal documentation.
    • Handle correspondence and member enquiries.
    • Build and maintain professional relationships with members, employers and relevant stakeholders.
    • Write articles for print and electronic media.
    • Travel as required for hearings, consultations and other work-related matters.
