    Machine Operator - W.Cape (61561)

    Purpose:

    • The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned machine, in line with demonstrated competency. The role requires producing high-quality products within set operating parameters while minimising waste.
    • The successful candidate must take full ownership of ensuring that only safe, compliant products meeting all applicable quality, food safety, and legislative standards are manufactured.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in a Packaging environment
    • At least 2 years' experience operating specific processes and/or machinery
    • Computer literacy will be advantageous

    Inherent Job Requirements

    • The role requires the ability to perform physical duties associated with packaging operations.

    Job Summary:

    • Conduct daily quality checks and ensure accurate completion of quality control documentation in line with procedures.
    • Maintain a sound understanding of product specifications to ensure compliance at all times.
    • Participate in MDWT meetings and ensure performance boards are updated accordingly.
    • Perform machine changeovers in accordance with standard operating procedures to accommodate different product sizes and variants.
    • Conduct pre-start-up inspections to ensure smooth and efficient machine start-up.
    • Set up and operate the Printer Code System to ensure accurate and compliant date coding.
    • Measure, record, and control all packaging parameters (including wastage) within defined specifications, implementing corrective actions where required.
    • Complete all required process control checks to ensure full product traceability.
    • Set up and monitor inspection equipment to ensure accurate product verification and minimise waste.
    • Participate in multi-disciplinary problem-solving teams to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
    • Perform first-line maintenance on machines.
    • Verify dry goods against orders and ensure accurate returns where applicable.
    • Adhere to all Health and Safety principles and ensure incidents are reported in line with procedures.
    • Perform and monitor cleaning procedures to maintain a safe, hygienic, and compliant production environment.
