A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Assistant, based in the Engineering Department at Life West Coast Private Hospital reporting to Engineering Manager, Itumeleng Mokopanele.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assistance in maintaining, inspecting and basic elements of electrical and air conditioning systems, plumbing, structural improvements and general maintenance.
Critical Outputs
Performing general preventative maintenance according to the maintenance plan
The candidate must have a good understanding of plant equipment.
The candidate must be self-driven, motivated and disciplined
Inspect all hospital areas daily to identify problems or defects with building, land, furniture and fixtures.
General building maintenance, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and painting
Completion of daily job cards as well as feedback thereof is a high priority.
Assistance with related ad-hoc functions as required.
Provide nursing staff with advice and guidance on maintaining their wards and common areas.
Adhere to safe working practices (OHS Act) and Risk Management
Adhere to ALL applicable LHC policies and procedures
The candidate must have a good understanding of plant equipment and facilities, following the preventative maintenance program as delegated/directed by the Supervisor
Requirements
Grade 12 (matric)
Any technical qualification with a minimum of N2 qualification, either mechanical or electrical, will be advantageous
Must have a valid driver’s license with Pr.DP will be advantageous
Must have a minimum of 2 years of working experience in an engineering maintenance or facilities maintenance environment, preferably in a hospital environment.
Proof of competency in any two of the following fields: electrical, building, plumbing, carpentry or tiling.
The successful candidate must be available to work standby duties and after-hours call-outs.
