Job Description Summary 

The role is a temporary contract for 24 months. The position reports to the Facilities Manager

The essential job functions and major contributions listed below are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills.  Incumbents may be required to perform other duties as required. The work involves the maintenance and operation of facilities and utilities equipment, either physically or by coordinating relevant contractors.  This includes but is not limited to HVAC, ammonia chillers, BMS, electrical reticulation, building and yard infrastructure, plumbing, alarm systems, fire prevention equipment and much more.

Adhere to strict SHE guidelines, legislation and directives while performing tasks or hosting and supervising contractors.  Comply with maintenance procedures including capturing relevant information and utilizing the maintenance work order system. Conduct all required inspections. Communicate adequately all aspects of the job function, have a continuous improvement mindset and propose new ideas for improvement and implementation.

Role and Responsibilities

• Performs, assists with or coordinates in the installation, maintenance and repair of all types of mechanical and/or production equipment and machinery primarily associated with the facility and .
• Performs a wide range of operations connected with the installation, repair, alteration and removal of all types of mechanical and/or production equipment and machinery, and/or utility piping systems.  Assists in the planning and laying-out of such projects. Documents and maintains records related to maintenance and repairs.  Assists in the inspection, testing, repairing, and removal of chemical process equipment, including instrument, electrical and/or mechanical components.
• Performs plumbing, piping and utility equipment repairs, electrical fabrication and carpentry tasks as required to facilitate maintenance of building structure, hardware and mechanical systems.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance: inspects and repairs utility pumps, fans, mechanical drives, seals and packing on pumps, HVAC equipment, chillers, heat pumps, BMS controls  

Qualifications and Experience Requirements – Update according to requirements of the job

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electromechanical engineering - N3 or more advanced
• 5 years relevant industry experience after qualification of which 2 years in a similar environment, with contactor coordination duties.
• Knowledge and experience as well as full understanding of daily processes at a production facility with focus on utility and facility equipment and infrastructure.
• Experience of CMMS and utilisation and capturing of maintenance work orders (job cards)
• Ability to work under pressure to ensemble quick resolution of equipment breakdowns.  Ability to follow up with right first time permanent solutions
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform workload effectively, with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of MRP/SAP CMMS  would be beneficial.
