    Maintenance Planner

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to contribute to ensure that the availability of the equipment, and wrench time percentages are kept to the set targets. The incumbent will draw up detailed job scopes, and schedules, for planned and corrective maintenance that will include work procedures, bill of materials, tools, safety (including Mining Engineering Codes of practices) and labour requirements, manage the tasks and backlog on the CMMS (Pragma On Key 5). This is done by also forming good working relationships with the artisans, supervisors, and GES’s on site, and in ongoing consultation with them. It is also required that a proper filing system is developed and maintained for accurate records of work, legal requirements and technical detail to be kept on site. The incumbent must also employ a process of continual improvement of assigned function and job scopes and scheduling.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinates and monitors all Engineering maintenance planning and scheduling activities relating to the Technical and Metallurgical processes within the Plant
    • Complements planned work by gathering critical information (resources, spares and tools arranged) for effective and safe execution
    • Continually evaluates and motivates critical spares to support equipment reliability during its life cycle
    • Actively assists in managing work backlogs
    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining an accurate and comprehensive asset register, and managing the plant critical spares in collaboration with the Engineer and Materials Controller
    • Planning of responsibilities with the Engineer to ensure an efficient workflow
    • Ensures compliance to all required standards, procedures and mining code of practices
    • Coordinates with colleagues to provide coverage during leave
    • Contributes towards the safe and efficient achievement of set production targets by:
    • Compiling and maintaining a computerized asset plan and ensuring that it is always up to date, including opportunity maintenance plans
    • Providing asset reports to the Plant Engineer on a periodical basis as required
    •  Compiling requisitions as and when necessary to ensure that special equipment is in stock for work required
    •  Conducting in-depth root cause analyses and reporting the findings thereof to the Plant Engineer when major failures occur
    •  Compiling monthly reports from the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System and Minocore) and submitting to respective parties
    •  Compiling ad hoc reports as and when required by management or the Client
    •  Optimising scheduled tasks based on historical plant equipment failures

    Qualification Requirement

    • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED qualifications such as the N3 Certificate,
    • Relevant Trade Test Certificate with 5 years’ experience as an Artisan and 2 years’ experience as a Foreman; or
    • National Diploma Engineering with at least 5 years process plant experience

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Maintenance Planning role
    • Expert knowledge of and training in the maintenance Planning and Scheduling modules offered by Pragma On Key or other similar maintenance modules
    • Sound knowledge of Mining Engineering Codes of practices, policies and procedures
    • A good knowledge of machinery and equipment used on the relevant operations
    • Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies relating to engineering principles & processes
    • Proven technical and maintenance capability
    • Sound knowledge of Condition Monitoring practices
    • Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance principles will be advantageous
    • Mineral Process Plant experience will be an advantage
    • Experience in project planning and scheduling including shut down planning in projects
    • English language proficiency
    • Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, PowerPoint), CMMS
    • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
    • Own transport to attend to call outs
