Maintenance Shift Leader - Durban at Defy Appliances

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and maintain all equipment and facilities, including but not limited to, machinery, office equipment, and physical infrastructure.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs, upgrades, and maintenance services as needed.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of equipment and facilities to identify any issues or potential risks.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize equipment downtime and reduce repair costs.
• Coordinate and oversee facility improvement projects, including renovations, expansions, or relocations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, identifying and addressing any potential hazards or non-compliant practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to equipment and facility management, implementing new technologies or processes as appropriate.
• Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers etc.) and external contractors
• Ensuring employee and facility safety and lead 5S Strategy across the site.
• Drafting maintenance reports.
• Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security etc.
• Responsible for Budget control and Facilities CAPEX and OPEX.
• Formulate preventative Maintenance plan.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR/.
• N6 with Trade Test (Millwright, Fitter, Electrician).
• 5 Years Experience in Maintenance (Facilities or Equipment Maintenance).
• 1-2 years Experience in Managerial/Leadership Role.
• Computer Literacy - (Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS software).
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to equipment and facility management.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as necessary.
