JOB DESCRIPTION

Manager Airfield Services– Paterson Grade D1

An exciting opportunity exists at Bram Fischer International Airport for an experienced Manager Airfield Services within Operations Management Division.

Key Performance Output

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Local Airport Manager, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

• Responsible for airfield services department which include ARFF, Safety management, Apron services and Bird and Wildlife management.
• Contribute to the development of the business plan and develop and implement departmental operational plans.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies and procedures and business processes within span of control and monitor implementation to ensure full compliance.
• Ensure compliance to the ICAO, SACAA CATS and CARS and National and Provincial Legislation related to Aerodrome Fire and Rescue, Bird and Wildlife and ICAO Annexure 14 Aerodrome
• Oversee the implementation of SHE processes and ensure they are conducted according to set standards.
• Conduct compliance audits, report on and follow-up to ensure that non-conformances/compliance have been addressed.
• Collate and submit consolidated compliance management reports.
• Conduct Safety Risk Assessment on new projects, ongoing projects and where there is change in operation or product, including Occupational Hygiene surveys.
• Advise management on deviations, trends, associated risks and remedial actions.
• Effective implementation of a QMS including conformances to specified standards.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment as per regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the procurement processes as per applicable policies and legislation.
• Manage contractor/stakeholder performance according to Service Level Agreement.
• Compile and manage departmental budget according to the company policies and directives. 
• Contribute to development and review of business processes and ensure effective implementations thereof.
• Responsible for people management functions such as performance management, succession planning and talent management of airfield services teams to ensure team performance meet required standards.
• Provide specialised technical/professional support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:

• Bachelor’s Degree (3 years - 360 credits) Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health or equivalent is essential.
• Honours Degree Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health is recommended.
• 3- 5 years operational experience in Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health is essential.
• 3 years operational experience in Supervisory is essential.
• 3 years operational experience Safety management in an airport environment is recommended.
