DUTIES:

• School & Daily Routine Management: Prepare the child for school, including breakfast, dressing, lunchboxes and school bags. Manage school calendars, notices, events, assignments and supplies, coordinate extra-murals and transport, and ensure the following day is organised. Assist with hygiene and daily routines as needed.
• Educational Development & Childcare: Plan engaging, age-appropriate educational activities, creative play and outdoor experiences. Support literacy, numeracy, school readiness and social-emotional development while encouraging independence, confidence and curiosity. Incorporate Montessori-inspired principles where possible, maintain positive discipline and adapt to more structured home-based learning if required.
• Child-Related Household Responsibilities: Prepare healthy meals, snacks and lunchboxes, manage the child's laundry and wardrobe, and keep their bedroom, playroom, toys and learning materials organized. Monitor essential supplies and assist with playdates, appointments and activity planning.
• Household & Family Assistance: During school hours, assist with grocery shopping, errands, household stock, appointments, deliveries, family administration and basic pet care. Coordinate with other household staff and help maintain an organized household routine. Responsibilities may increase when the family is away and the candidate remains at home. The focus is on childcare, education and family assistance rather than general cleaning or domestic housekeeping.
• Additional Responsibilities: Provide occasional babysitting or weekend assistance by prior arrangement, travel with the family when required, including internationally, and adapt to changing family schedules and schooling arrangements.
• Special Requirements: Female - patient, kind, emotionally mature and a positive role model who sets gentle but firm boundaries. They must be proactive, reliable, organized and trustworthy, with a genuine love for children, an engaging approach to learning and play, and respect for family privacy. Confident in handling strong personalities. Preference will be given to candidates with educational background.  Afrikaans and/or Xitsonga (Tsonga/Shangaan) would be beneficial.

• Duties: Assist and oversee homework is done, ad hoc school projects when they come up, answer any questions, ensure they understand all their work and are well prepared for test and exams.
• Special Requirements: The ideal candidate is someone who is thorough and able to assist both children with all school an academic needs. Someone who double checks the work is done correctly with no spelling errors, etc. We are looking for a tutor with experience or a teacher / studying towards their teaching degree would be a huge benefit (but NOT a deal breaker). The candidate should be fluent in Afrikaans as the kids go to an Afrikaans school and all the homework etc. will be in Afrikaans.

• Ages:  Twin boy and girl aged 11 years old in Grade 6 and a 9 year old daughter in Gr 4 (mild dyslexia, very smart and capable)
• Working hours: Mon – Thurs 14:30 – 18:00 – Flexibility around these hours would be appreciated. Adhoc Fridays every now and then with prior notice.

• Duties: Collect from school, take to extra murals and appointments, assist and supervise with homework and school projects, assist with test and exam prep (setting mock exams or using old papers), ensure bags are unpacked and packed for the following day, pack school lunches. Manage busy extra murals schedules. During school holidays, organise fun activities and take them on outings. Prepare lunch and snacks. Engage in fun activities with the children. Communicate thoroughly with the parents.
• Requirements: The family is needing someone aged between 20 – 30 years, who is fun and engaging, but can also be firm and set boundaries with the children. Someone who is reliable, takes initiative and is a very strong communicator. She needs to be patient and encouraging with the kids and provide additional support. The parents are very involved and hands on, they need and extra pair of hands and someone to join their team.
• Start date: 06 January 2027 – permanent contract

Salary: R8000 - R9000 per month (gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95) for any driving done directly for the family. Not to get to and from work.

• Special Requirements: I would prefer the candidate to be between 21 and 26. Qualified ECD Teacher or studying towards the relevant qualification. It would be beneficial if she speaks another language other than English. She must be energetic and open to working with other people. Most importantly, she must fulfill the needs of the family and, more specifically, the children. The priority remains focused on educational training.

Family will be moving to a farm in Stellenbosch in 2029 but will be visiting the farm frequently (nearly every week for three days at a time) until relocation happens. The family will need the candidate to travel with them within Africa, mainly to Garden Route, Eastern Cape, Europe and the UK. Accommodation everywhere else (except in Cape Town) will be provided when travelling with the family.
