Manager: Infrastructure Planning at George Local Municipality

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

• A relevant BTech degree (Civil) or preferably MTech degree in Engineering 
• Registration as a Pr Tech Eng (Civil) 
• Code B driver’s License 
• Computer proficiency: MS Office (intermediate level) 
• 10 Years post registration experience (3 years relevant management experience)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

• Managing Planning of Infrastructure to ensure Council’s involvement in the planned provision of infrastructure in private and official projects. 
• Productivity/ Performance of Consultants, Contractors, And Professional Service Providers In order to ensure a climate conductive to promoting and sustaining productivity, performance and improving the quality of work enabling the contractor to meet its service delivery objectives and projects are completed within budget, on time and to required specifications. 
• Financial Control to ensure adequate motivation for the provision of grant and municipal funding, by preparing accurate estimates in relation to requirements. This enables the Department to contribute positively towards meeting infrastructure upgrading and maintenance objectives and sustaining the quality and standards of service delivery. 
• Project Management to ensure contractual terms and conditions entered, and agreed to, are complied with and specific responsibilities discharged accordingly without any risk to Council. 
• Management Of New Developments to ensure the activities, projects and assignments associated with the section are monitored, deviations addressed, and corrective measures introduced to curb non-conformance, poor quality and performance enabling the department to deliver in accordance with the laid down objectives, procedures and cost parameters. 
• Administration To ensure that land development projects comply with Municipal Master plans, Standards and conditions and those of various other authorities and legislation. 
• Relationship Management and Communication to ensure information, advice or opinions on relevant matters is made available and/ or communicated through the various mediums and accurately interpreted through the provision of adequate and clear explanation. 
• Supervision To ensure that the needs of subordinates are attended to in a human and professional manner.

• Ability to communicate in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape.
