Manager: Inter-Governmental Relations (IGR) at Dannhauser Local Municipality

REQUIREMENTS        

• Matric, 3-year National Diploma/Diploma/Degree in Public Administration or Public Management/Communications/Political Science (NQF LEVEL 6/7) or relevant qualification in Local Government Intergovernmental relations. A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Intergovernmental Relations/Public Participation. Valid driver's licence.

• Knowledge of local government legislation and policies.
• Excellent communication skills, innovation & reporting.
• Legislation and Policy Analysing skills;
• High level of responsibility;
• Ability to give attention to detail;
• Computer literacy (Ms Office) with good presentation skills.
• Work after normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime;
• Ethical Conduct; and Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality;

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitate and strengthen relationships between the municipality and provincial and national government departments.
• Coordinate participation in intergovernmental forums (e.g. district, provincial and sector forums).
• Ensure alignment of municipal programmes with provincial and national priorities.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including the Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act and other governance frameworks.
• Contribute to the development and alignment of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
• Provide advisory support to municipal departments on intergovernmental matters
