Relevant degree in Town and Regional Planning (NQF7)
Must be registered as a Professional Planner in accordance with the Planning Professions Act 32 of 2002
Knowledge of CAD and GIS
Valid Code B driver’s license
Computer literate
Good communication, interpersonal and management skills
Able to communicate in two of the official languages of the Western Cape
Eight years’ relevant planning experience required inclusive supervisory with at least five years’ experience in a managerial role with specific experience in financial management, project management, performance management and staff management.
Duties:
Manage the key performance areas with regards to Planning
Maintain a risk register for the Department
Manage planning application processes and requirements related to Municipal By Law on Land Use Planning
Regulate and control illegal land uses
Enforce the town planning scheme and by-laws
Implement the land use management system
Oversee the operations of the GIS section
Process and evaluate certain delegated Developmental applications
Budget and Financial control
Personnel and Performance Management
Comment on Building Plan applications
Prepare reports for the Planning Tribunal, Appeal Committee and the Delegated Official
