Manager: Night Duty at Mediclinic

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure continuous safe patient care and a positive patient experience by coordinating clinical and non-clinical resources and services at night.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Continuously deliver a quality service to patients in accordance with patient safety standards
• Achieve the clinical quality standards according to policies and procedures
• Ensure the optimal utilisation and competence of staff whose behaviour reflects the organisation’s core values
• Ensure continuation of patient care through effective supervision
• Co-ordinate resources efficiently to enhance safe patient care

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B degree or diploma in nursing

DESIRED EDUCATION:  Relevant Management and leadership qualification

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  5 yrs clinical experience as a Professional Nurse

DESIRED EXPERIENCE 2 to 3 yrs management experience at the unit level (SPN/UM)

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• People Management
• Risk management processes and procedures
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
• Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Nursing functional knowledge
• Relevant nursing legislation
• Human resource processes including employee relations
• Complaint management
