    Manager

     Core purpose of position:

    • To take full responsibility for the efficient day-to-day management of OVK's Distribution Centre in Bloemfontein, with a strong focus on service delivery, inventory control, route execution, people management, cost control and loss limitation.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12; an appropriate qualification in logistics, supply chain, warehouse housekeeping, or management is a strong recommendation;
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or logistics environment;
    • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role;
    • Proven experience in route planning, inventory control, personnel and fleet management;
    • Experience in an agricultural, retail, or FMCG distribution environment will be a recommendation;
    • Knowledge of purchasing processes, budget control, occupational health and safety, as well as applicable transportation requirements will be a recommendation;
    • Good computer skills and experience in AS400, inventory or warehouse systems;
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to be available outside normal hours when operations require it.

    • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities;
    • Accuracy, accountability, and the ability to perform under operational pressure;
    • Service-oriented mindset and good cooperation with internal role players.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Manage the Distribution Center's day-to-day operations and ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution;
    • Plan and schedule delivery routes; monitor compliance with routes, cut-off times, and service levels;
    • Continuously liaise with group buyers and other internal role players about inventory needs, availability and priorities;
    • Manage designated purchases within approved policies, budgets, authorizations, and inventory parameters;
    • Apply appropriate operational, inventory, financial, and security controls and report deviations;
    • Managing staff, drivers, performance, discipline, training, shifts, and capacity planning;
    • Manage the fleet, including vehicle availability, licenses, services, maintenance, fuel consumption, and inspections;
    • Coordinate inventory surveys and cycle counts; investigate and correct inventory differences;
    • Ensure cleanliness, order, safe stacking and good housekeeping in the warehouse and yard;
    • Manage returns, claims, and follow-up actions to final settlement and limit losses, damage, and obsolete inventory.
