    Manager: Specialized Collections & Recoveries Administration

    This position manages a team of 10 recovery agents as well as all the administration and performance of all our outsource collections – pre and post charge off.  

    This position is crucial to maintaining external collections and relationships with external agencies.

    Truworths is looking for a driven Manager: Specialized Collections and Recoveries Administration. If you have an appetite for enhancing processes that will ensure the effective execution of all types of outsourced collections and have a track record of achieving your financial targets then this may be the job for you.

    Duties:

    • Own & drive all elements of the administrative execution of Recoveries, Outsource and Specialized collections strategies;
    •  Supporting the Head of External Collections in maximizing recoveries across all product ranges by managing the day to day administrative relationships with external collections agencies.
    •  Stay abreast of market trends, relevant legislation & events in appropriate industry;
    • Give input to the development of recovery strategies, policies & procedures by preparing operational performance reports and other analysis
    • Manage a group of +- 10 staff executing on specialized collections strategies
    • Develop and implement operating plans for the specialized collections department in line with, collection strategies, policies & procedures and relevant legislation; Ensure compliance with operating plans & highlight operational risks & controls;
    • Ensure adherence to key stakeholder’s policies & procedures approved by the Steerco;
    • Ensure adequate environmental controls & exception reporting in line with policies;
    • Assist in managing Recovery activities according to agreed performance measures, including operating plans & expense budgets;
    • Assist the head of the department to set and track targets (KPI’s) for the external agencies & ensure the achievement of the recovery targets;
    • Manage the monthly recovery expenses (i.e. commissions) in line with budget requirements;
    • Coordinate day-to-day activities with external agencies throughout the process 
    • Plan and execute regular audits of agency compliance to strategy, policies & procedures and relevant legislation;
    • Assist the Head of the department to present monthly portfolio performance to the Steerco;
    • Continuously seek improvements in recovery processes, products & technology & manage the change process;
    • Present weekly portfolio performance to the Head of the department and agencies
    • Ensure that all EDC’s engagements are accurately recorded on the appropriate systems

    Competencies Required: 

    • Collections and Recoveries industry & business knowledge;
    • Vendor / 3rd Party Supplier Relationship Management;
    • Working knowledge of EDC management
    • Knowledge of collections strategies and unsecured collections
    • Knowledge of Debt review, Admin Orders and Deceased Estates processes
    • Attention to detail
    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
    • Legal Knowledge;
    • Team player

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Matric;
    • Minimum 3-years relevant Recoveries and Specialized Collections experience;
    • Minimum 1 to 2 years management or supervisory experience in a recoveries environment;
    • Knowledge of collection/recovery processes and methodologies;
    • Knowledge of relevant collection legislation (e.g. Debt Collectors Act, National Credit Act, Magistrates Court Act.
    • A good understanding of the Vision and CAS software 
    • Must be able to travel
