    Manager: Student Media and Engagement

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To manage the conceptualisation and deployment of student engagement and media within the overall strategic vision of the Portfolio of Student Life and Development. The position is responsible for the mounting of developmental, educational, and empowering programmes for students with a particular focus on transformative engagement as well as raise the profile of Madibaz Radio. Finally, the purpose of the position is to drive pro-active and effective communication and knowledge sharing with students and relevant stakeholders.

          
    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Provide strategic leadership to student media and engagement that promote integrated learning experiences
    • Manage transformative student engagement that inculcate multidisciplinary education to support student learning and development.
    • Manage the Radio and News contents that are at the cutting edge of knowledge dissemination and production.
    • Co-ordinate Operational Activities that inspire smooth running of a student media and engagement across the university campuses.
    • Enhance the communication and marketing profile of the Portfolio of Student Life & Development as an integrated whole responsible for creating life changing student experiences for Mandela students.
    • Resource mobilisation and financial management for the unit
    • Responsible for effective stakeholder engagement management and partnerships.
    • Liaison amongst internal divisions, departments and promote community engagement.
    • Manage the webpages of all units of Student Life & Development as a tool for interaction with students.
    • Provide the division with social media support for marketing the high-level events within the Division of Student Life & Development.

    • Understanding of youth development theories and projects.
    • Substantial experience in working in a team and manager at the same time.
    • Project Management Skills.
    • Event Management Skills.
    • Marketing and Media industry skills including social media.
    • Budgetary Regulations and Financial Management Skills.
    • Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Skills.
    • People Management Skills.
    • Ability to implement Departmental business plans.
    • Knowledge of policy development.
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
    • Adaptability and flexibility including but not limited to working long and unpredictable working hours.
    • Driver’s license.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A minimum requirement of M + 3 qualification, and at least 3 years’ experience in which competency was gained within a public or development sector.
    • Experience in a higher education environment will be an added advantage.
