    Managing Director Sub-Saharan Africa

The Company is headquartered in Vienna, Austria with operations across the globe.

    We are currently strengthening our team in Johannesburg and are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, motivated, dynamic and well-connected senior executive to undertake the role of Managing Director (MD) and lead our Sub-Saharan African (SSA) business. A strategist and a leader, you will be responsible for the overall success of the business by steering the company in the most profitable direction. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing the regional business, and working closely with OTM’s clients (mobile operator partners, and brands and agencies) to achieve OTM’s regional vision, mission, and long-term goals.

    More specifically, the role includes both operational and commercial duties:

    • Full financial P&L responsibility and overall management of the SSA region with quarterly reports to the Chairman of OTM Africa on regional performance, financial budgets, business goals and strategic planning;

    • Responsible for the sales and account management function of OTM SSA. Drive new business development opportunities, while nurturing and growing the network of contacts within the industry to generate business leads. Build and foster relationships with the key stakeholders within the mobile advertising ecosystem such as brands, agencies, mobile network operators or publishers. Identify client needs and ensure profitable solution-based selling to increase revenue and create value added client relationships.

    • Effectively manage the relationships with all clients in the region and mitigate risks to the company; become involved in resolution of any issues at a country or regional level that may have an adverse effect on downtime or client relationships, while at all times ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as OTM policies and procedures;

    • Recruit, select and develop a well-motivated and skilled team capable of meeting the strategic demands of the business and market to ensure long term profitability. Manage performances of staff by motivating, training, coaching, and mentoring. Create a culture for success and performance;

    • Monitor the market developments and implement operational enhancements to improve market competitiveness by establishing and maintaining service differentiation in a competitive environment;

    Requirements

    • University Degree(s) in related disciplines (e.g. Marketing and Sales, Media Management, Communication, Advertising, Business Administration, Economic Studies, etc.);

    • Proven experience in the advertising and media industry, in a senior leadership role, working within advertising agencies or digital media companies, or mobile operators, and being involved with digital strategy, managing digital advertising projects, digital transformation projects, programmatic advertising, etc;

    • Strong ties with media agencies or mobile operators in the region is a prerequisite;

    • The role requires:

      • Clear orientation to drive sales growth by working closely with brands and agencies, mobile operators and other partners;

      • Solid negotiating and closing skills;

      • Creative and innovative mindset, able to build commercial growth plans, strategize and drive business development activities that lead to growth;

      • Structured thinking and organizational mindset. Able to anticipate client needs, foresee potential obstacles and act upon them on-time;

      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to motivate and successfully lead teams through tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects;

    • Excellent in English - Ability to travel
