    Marketing Management Specialist AWM

    The incumbent will be responsible for the profitable marketing of all products in the Portfolio, and the attainment of short term agreed sales and profit targets, as well as devising and implementing marketing strategies that will ensure the short-, medium- and long-term profitability of the products within the portfolio.

    Essential Job Functions

    • To establish and nurture the relationship between Key Contacts and Smith & Nephew and to commercialise these relationships.
    • To formulate and implement short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans for brands and the portfolio.
    • To co-ordinate the training of new staff and existing staff in product knowledge.
    • Be responsible for the formulation and implementation of short, medium and long-term strategic plans for portfolio and brands relating to positioning in the market, new product usage applications, new market opportunities, competitive yet profitable pricing and successful promotion against competition
    • Initiate clinical-in-market evaluations (CIME) with key contacts where appropriate.
    • Report to superior at an agreed frequency on the performance and problems of the products within areas of responsibility according to the format laid down by the superior.
    • Keep abreast of local and international developments and trends in the market and implement systems to control and monitor these.
    • Make pricing recommendations for all market segments based on knowledge of the market.
    • Ensure that strategic projects and NPLs are prioritized and timeously launched.
    • Brief advertising, PR, digital, media and design agencies in the implementation of advertising and promotional plans and strategies.
    • Develop and supervise the distribution of educational aids and supporting literature for those brands under manager’s control.
    • Participate in relevant congresses and events.
    • Carry out a range of general day to day administrative tasks related to the marketing of the brands.
    • Compile and present annual sales budgets for submission to superiors.
    • Check and monitor on an ongoing basis the compilation of budgeted SFCs.
    • Monitor sales performance against budget or agreed targets and reports on this performance to superior, highlighting key areas
    • Prepare, plan and control the annual advertising and promotions budget.
    • Monitor gross profit margins to ensure that target or better than target margins are achieved.
    • Analyse management accounts for the portfolio and investigate and report monthly variance pertaining to those brands.
    • Provide sales and profit forecasts to the superior for inclusion in the period sales and profit forecasts.
    • Ensure that costs and expenses reflected against the brands have in fact been correctly allocated.
    • Is responsible for managing stock levels by ensuring enough minimum safety levels at all times.
    • Demand forecasts and adjusting forecasts as required based on performance and anticipated outlook ensuring sufficient stock.
    • Liaise with sales, inventory, supply chain, accounts, customer services, purchasing, and the end user for the effective and profitable supply of product to the market.
    • Monitor product back-orders and liaises with inventory and supply chain.
    • Field visits with Sales Force to keep abreast of market conditions, gather customer and competitor insights, monitor campaigns, and initiate action plans to respond to market changes, challenges and opportunities.
    • CAPEX management and control, including fleet management of AWD devices, ensuring that they are maintained and optimally distributed for profitable return.

    Requirements

    • Matric Qualification with a tertiary qualification / degree in life sciences, sciences, marketing or commerce.
    • Minimum 4 years sales and/or marketing experience in a Medical device company preferably with some wound care experience or a Clinical background, with 2 years industry experience. Both Marketing and Sales experience, digital marketing is an advantage.
