Mechanical Assistant (Lovedale) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Wagon Examiners certificate. (advantageous)
• Artisan assistant training certificate in boilermaking and have excellent welding skill.
• Basic rigging certificate. (advantageous)
• Forklift training certificate. (advantageous)
• Overhead crane training certificate. (advantageous)
• 2-5 Years experience on Rolling stock. (advantageous
• Practical knowledge to re-rail derailed rolling stock.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Inspections of rolling stock, ensures maximum reliability of rolling stock,
• Maintains rolling stock in a safe and efficient manner.
• Compliance to RSR, SANS 3000 and TFR standards and best practice.
• Carry out preventative Maintenance on Rolling stock as per routines
• Attends to breakdowns, investigate and trace faults.
• Do major repairs on rolling stock as per routines, Light lift and Heavy lift.
• Assists in the Department’s housekeeping by keeping the working area neat and clean.
• Maintains safe working conditions, follows safety instructions and attends safety meetings.
• Works overtime when required.
• Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by Manager.
• Successful candidates must be willing trained to be fully qualified wagon examiners.
