Job Purpose

• To perform various functions, tasks and duties in the eThekwini Municipal plant micropropagation 
• laboratory and plant production nursery facilities. 

Key Responsibility Areas

• Prepares for and completes the days work.
• Undertakes the micropropagation of plants in conjunction with the supervisor.
• Assists with the decontamination and initiation of new plant cultures.
• In conjunction with the supervisor pricks out, acclimatizes and maintains cultured plantlets 
• and established nursery stocks and mother plants in the micropropagation weaning houses.
• Assists with laboratory, clerical and nursery duties.
• Implements new micropropagation protocols and techniques.
• Ensures the Occupational Health and Safety Act are complied with.
• Assist staff and members of the general public.

Essential Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent with Life Science or Biology and Physical Science.
• 1 Year relevant experience

Preferred Requirements

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Horticulture or Nature Conservation or Landscape Technology.
• 2 Years relevant experience.
