Milk Receiving Attendant (Processing Department) - Kyalami at Lactalis South Africa

Job Description    

• The attendant is responsible for the receiving of milk. Monitoring of the receiving process and general housekeeping on and around the tanker.  Capture receiving data, such as test results and information of milk received.  The daily shift report will be completed accurately and timorously.  Operating the pump and ensuring the correct information is used on the records.  Report all defect to the maintenance department.  Maintain receiving equipment and pipes. Perform receiving test before milk is down loaded.

Required Skills     

• Grade 12 or equivalent
•  Computer literate
•  Not be afraid of heights and or suffer from claustrophobia
•  Basic knowledge of manufacturing principles
•   Ability to distinguish colour for product testing purposes
•  Knowledge in performing milk receiving tests.
•  Willing to work in bad weather conditions.
•  Knowledge in receiving milk.
•  Attention to detail.
•  Willing to learn.
•  Willing to work shifts, long hours, weekends, public holidays and overtime.
•  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•  Willing to perform Ad hoc tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities     

• Receive milk and or milk products.
•  Perform receiving tests before milk is down loaded.
•  CIP equipment.
•  General housekeeping on and around the tanker.
•  Capture receiving data, such as test results and information of milk received.
•  Report of shortcomings to company preferred standard to supervisor.
•  Maintain receiving equipment and pipes.
•  Analysing milk samples when necessary.
•  Administer samples for lab analyses.
•  Apply good housekeeping rules.
•  Assist in down line activities when requested.
•  Assist in other departments, when operationally required.
•  Participation in various business initiatives: Continuous Improvement, FSSC 22 000, NOSA.
•  Operating the pumps and ensuring the correct information is used on the records.
•  Report all defect to the maintenance department.
