Millwright at Gold Fields Limited

The role of the Millwright/Electro Mechanician is to perform maintenance tasks on the South Deep Trackless Fleet. The tasks entails both electrical and mechanical fault finding and maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, and installations.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be in possession of a Grade 12 qualification or equivalent
• Be in possession of an appropriate Trade Certificate as Millwright or Electro-Mechanician
• Have 3 years’ experience as a Millwright on trackless mobile equipment
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
• Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment.

Key Competencies:

• Have sound Interpersonal relations and good communication skills
• Be able to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Have extensive experience on Sandvik, Altas Copco and Aard machines.
• Have extensive experience on mechanical and electrical maintenance and fault finding on TM3 machinery
• Have extensive experience on the maintenance, repair and installation of all mechanical and electrical components of TM3 machines
• In depth knowledge of Engineering TM3 metrics and concepts, like MTTR, MTTF, O4R and M4R

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the health, safety, and security of self and fellow artisans by applying safety and security standards and procedures in the execution of maintenance activities
• Ensure that mechanical equipment in the Trackless Engineering Environment is maintained to the highest standards to ensure excellence in availability and utilisation
• Ensure that the condition monitoring of equipment and scheduled and planned maintenance are conducted timeously and effectively
• Promote and develop team work to become an effective team member
