Job Description

• The ideal team player will be responsible to install, test, maintain and commission electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment and systems at the mixing plants, as well as work on electrical transmission and distribution equipment, carrying out of preventative maintenance on machinery. Site, building and infrastructure maintenance.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
• QCTO Qualified Millwright.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience post trade test as Millwright in a production environment.
• Code B Driving License required.
• FMCG packaging experience advantageous.
• The applicant should be in a good physical condition, an independent worker, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and without supervision.
• Position requires willingness to work long hours, incl. weekends where requested. And overtime as needed for breakdowns in 24 hours shifts.
• Boilermaker and welding experience advantageous.
• Microsoft office literate

Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend and or lead daily meetings for job planning.
• Respond and communicate on WhatsApp maintenance group, with regards to repair requests and breakdowns.
• Install, maintain, repair, test and commission electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment and systems in the plant as well as work on electrical distribution and reticulation equipment.
• Manufacture, fit and repair machine components and related equipment
• Reduce Breakdowns and ensure maximum equipment availability
• Fault finding on mechanical and electrical equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, VFD’s, etc.
• Fault find and repairs on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance inspections and tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment in the mixer plants.
• Operate equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner.
• Maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
• Any other ad hoc duties as may be required by management, which may include, but not limited to, housekeeping of garden and site, general site housekeeping, painting of infrastructure etc.
• Maintain of plumbing infrastructure
• Maintain, repair and upgrade of building structures and site infrastructure.
• Order of spare parts from spares shop.
• Maintain clean and organized of work areas and tools.
• Mentor of millwright assistants and even train apprentices.
• Completion of timesheets for jobs completed.
• Keeping up to date with the newest technology to keep plant performance up to date.
• Conduct routine inspections and checks, to ensure electrical installations complies to SANS 10412 standards for COC.
• Maintain of power factor correction banks.
• Maintain and repair of automation systems.
• Ensure diagrams is up to date and done for all electrical installations.
• Respond to breakdowns in hours and after hours as required.
• Investigate root cause of failures and breakdowns to stop re-occurrence and ensure plant availability and best performance.
• Refurbish of machinery to optimize performance.
• Boiler making and sheet metal work as needed in repair of plant infrastructure.
• Use of metal lathe and milling machine to do repair and manufacture parts for breakdowns and refurbishment of machinery.
• After hours callout and standby in season as required.
• Do repairs and upgrades with long-term reliability strategy in mind.
• Basic civil construction working as needed for repairs of bunker infrastructure.
• Lead of maintenance team from time to time when maintenance manager is not available.
• Attendance or lead of general daily meeting to plan the day jobs ahead.
• Maintain and upkeep of ISO checklists and documentation.
• Daily communication with production to optimized maintenance timing and scheduling.
• Adhere to hot works and lock out tag out safety systems.
• Maintain good utilisation of job hours.
